Scenario: Evaluate the integral of the below function.

Finding the integral of t is easy...

...but with the integral methods we've learned thus far, it's impossible to integrate sin(t2). It's a composite function!

  • f(x) = sin(x)
  • g(x) = x2

u-substitution is used when you’re dealing with the composite of two functions and cannot apply regular integral methods.
