Integrals are used to calculate the area under a function / curve.

Integrals, in essence, "reversederivatives by using antiderivatives.

They're essentially the "opposite" of derivatives.

Scenario: Imagine this function represents a race car's speed over the course of a race. What's the total distance the car traveled during the race from x = 0 to x = 4?

Solving for the integral enables us to calculate that area under the function from x = 0 to x = 4, representing (in this case) distance traveled!
