Why do we need assumptions?

Assumptions enable us to ensure our sample data has characteristics that grant us the ability to run statistical inference on them.

A primary example of this is ensuring that our samples were randomly collected to ensure they're representative of the population!

Before running through a statistical inference test (ex: confidence intervals, hypothesis tests) with z-scores, t-scores, two means, Chi Square, etc... you must ensure that your sample meets the assumptions!
